Help build the Orion's Arm Scenario and you could get your Name in the Ezine!!

So you have a Great Idea, which could go well in this setting? or you Think you have something to contribute towards, in the way of writing?

Of course there are several ways you can be a part of this project.

  1. You can write a short story (or even a novel or screenplay!) set at any time in this future history (it doesn't have to be at 10,000 a.d.)
  2. Or you may have ideas for a race or a personality or a planet or a battle or anything else for the Encyclopedia Galactica. It could be as brief as a single line, or as long as an entire essay.

Two things that are really needed as well are Original Artwork, Original Stories, Original Music, and Programmers. C++, Java, etc..

A few notes on submitting written material

For "non-fiction" (worldbuilding) it is best to join the Orion's Arm mail list, and post it to the group as a whole. That way you get feedback from others. The page will then be added to the Orion Arm's site

Original fiction can be sent to the Editor as Word or rtf (rich text format) attachment, or simply embedded in the email document. Or you can post it to the OA group as a whole. The story can be of any length - long or short, it doesn't matter.

The only requirement with any submitted material is that it fit into this setting. So certain things are out - e.g. no warp drive and no humanoid aliens. But you can have a relativistic ship and genetically modified humans (or even animal uplifts), which really amounts to something pretty similar, with much greater realism to boot.

If you have seen Orion' Arm Web site or this site and its, introduction page, basics, and/or FAQs page, you should have a pretty good idea of the sort of material to submit. You can get further ideas from browsing through the Orion's Arm site.

And don't worry about fitting in exactly to every detail of the setting, or about precisely following the time-line; after all, the whole scenario is vast and fluid enough to accommodate many stories and outcomes, and the time-line is currently being updated with a few extra entries.

The most important thing is ideas. If your ideas are good, that is all that matters.
